| From the Editor: The goal of CardWisdom.com is to help visitors like you find a credit card that can actually improve your financial life. I've (unfortunately) been in the credit card business since 2004, when I built my first website, www.credit-card-depot.com. In the six plus years that followed, I've seen vast changes in the marketplace. But nothing prepared me for the credit card nightmare of 2009. During that year, I had a harrowing view of just how bad credit card companies can behave. On my main blog at www.SmartBalanceTransfers.com, thousands of honest, innocent Americans shared stories with me and my blog's readers about interest rate increases that nearly led to financial ruin and credit limit cuts that left them stranded in critical situations. Some of the largest credit card companies in America engaged in truly apprehensible behavior. And, even with the CARD Act in place, many continue to use less than savory tactics to lure in new customers.
If there's one thing you take away from your visit to CardWisdom, let it be this: read the fine print. Throughout the pages of CardWisdom, I do my best to highlight traps and tricks that various credit card companies employ. I also try to stress the importance of choosing a good credit card company, even if that company doesn't offer the longest 0% teaser rate or the most alluring rewards.
I've always believed that choosing a credit card is an important financial decision. Credit cards, when used correctly, can help you save money on interest or earn very useful rewards. However, as many of us learned in 2009, carrying substantial credit card debt puts you at the mercy of heartless corporations.
Hopefully, the credit card you find on CardWisdom will help you reduce your credit card debt and put you on the path to profiting from credit card rewards. And if you have a question, don't be afraid to ask. I personally respond to all emails from visitors as soon as possible, so feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Thanks for visiting CardWisdom and if you find this site helpful, please share it with your friends.
