Earlier this week Chase launched the Priority Club Select Visa Card, a travel rewards credit card linked up with InterContinental Hotels. The new Priority Club credit card was designed with feedback from Club members and its goal is to provide better benefits to these customers. In this respect, the card seems to excel. However, general cardholders who don't frequent InterContinental hotels are likely better off with a no annual fee cash back rewards credit card.
Rewards Specs: The Priority Club Select Visa offers 5 points for every dollar spent at InterContinental hotels, such as its namesake sites as well as Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and its other properties. Gas, groceries and dining each earn 2 points. All other purchases earn one point.
Bonus Promotions: New cardmembers earn 30,000 bonus points after their first qualifying transaction. This can be used for 2 free nights at many Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express locations. Additionally, the annual fee of $49 is waived the first year.
Ongoing Promotions: Priority Club select Visa cardholders automatically obtain permanent Gold Elite Status as well as a free night once a year.
Rates and Fees: An interesting feature of this card is that it charges no foreign transaction fees. Most credit cards charge a 3% fee for foreign purchase (with the exception of Capital One credit cards).
The annual fee of $49 is average for this type of card and easily offset by the free annual night certificate. While this offer has no 0% APR promotion, the long term rates are reasonable, especially for a co-branded rewards credit card.
Overall, the Chase Priority Club Select Visa is a card that can benefit road warriors and committed Priority Club members substantially, but may be a little to complicated for the average credit card user who would benefit from a wider range of reward options or the simplicity of a cash back credit card.

My daughter will be attending Syracuse University, and I am interested in obtaining this card to accrue points toward stays at Hampton Inn and Sheraton in Syracuse. Are these hotels part of your chain of hotels for accrued reward points?
Please let me know. Thanks
Hi Natalia,
The Hampton Inn is a Hilton property. To earn points for this hotel, see the Hilton HHonors credit card. The Sheraton is part of the Starwood Hotel group, which has its own card, the Starwood Preferred Guest card. If you know you will be staying at one more than they other, either of these cards is a good fit. However, you may be better off with a general travel rewards card, such as the Capital One Venture Card, which lets you earn 2 miles/2 cents for every dollar spent. You can then redeem these rewards for any travel expense. This card would offer much better flexibility than the other two.
