Gain Extra Points And Discounts Shopping At Ultimate Rewards Mall

by Jason Steele on February 14, 2013

Chase is one of the largest issuers of reward credit cards. These cards can earn points or miles with their travel partners, or they can earn points in Chase’s proprietary program called Ultimate Rewards. Fortunately, Ultimate Rewards points are extremely valuable.

They can be used for cash back, direct travel bookings, or in some cards, transferred to points or miles with hotels and airlines. And while many Chase credit cards offer bonus points for spending at certain categories of merchants, they all offer additional bonuses for shopping through the Ultimate Rewards Mall.

How to shop at the Ultimate Rewards Mall

To access Chase’s Ultimate Rewards Mall, cardholders must first create a user name and password for Chase.com. After entering the home page, called the Account Summary, cardholders must then click on the link next to their credit card labeled “Go To Ultimate Rewards”. If the cardholder has multiple cards that accrue Ultimate Rewards points, there will be multiple links to the Ultimate Rewards shopping portal. Each link will only have access to the points earned from each card. Likewise, bonus points from shopping will be earned in the sub-account of each respective card. Fortunately, points can be freely transferred from card to card, and between spouse’s accounts.

Next, cardholders should click on the “Earn Points” menu on the right side of their screen, and choose “Shop the Ultimate Rewards Mall”. There, shoppers can choose from merchants in a variety of ways. They can search by category, by those with free shipping, or simply by name. Once results are returned, offers can then be sorted by store name or by the number of bonus points earned per dollar spent. The final step is to click on the Shop Now button which will then link to directly to the merchant’s web site.

Purchases made from the eligible merchants will then earn the standard amount of points that is normally earned, plus the specified number of extra points. So if a Sapphire Preferred cardholder shops at an online travel agent such as Hotels.com, the cardholders will then earn two points per dollar normally earned from travel purchases, plus another four points per dollar that is currently offered by Ultimate Rewards. Amazing, the cardholder is earning six points per dollar on his or her hotel reservation, just by clicking through the Ultimate Rewards Mall.

By understanding how the Ultimate Rewards Mall works, Chase cardholders can maximize their acquisition of valuable reward points.
